John Elroy Sanford, known by his stage name Redd Foxx, is an American comedian and actor. Foxx found success with his spectacular nightclub performances in the 1950s and 1960s. Known as the "King of Party Records", he performed over 50 records during his lifetime. He played the role of Fred G. Sanford on the Sanford and Son TV show and starred in The Redd Foxx Show and The Royal Family. His film projects include All the Fine Young Cannibals, Cotton Comes to Harlem, Norman ... It's you? and Harlem Nights. In 2004, Foxx placed 24th in Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-up All Time. Foxx not only affects many comedians, but is often portrayed in popular culture primarily due to its slogans, body language, and facial expressions on Sanford and Son. In the five years of its screenings, Foxx won the Golden Globe and received three other nominations, as well as three Primetime Emmy nominations.
