Chris Tamas is a professional volleyball player who has been playing the sport since he was a teenager. He is currently the head coach of the University of Illinois women's volleyball team. Tamas was born in Santa Barbara, California, and attended Santa Barbara High School. He was a four-year letterman in volleyball and was named the team's MVP in his senior year. He then attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was a four-year letterman and was named the team's MVP in his senior year. Tamas has been playing professionally since 2002, when he joined the Italian team, Pallavolo Modena. He has also played for teams in France, Germany, and the United States. He was a member of the U.S. National Team from 2004 to 2008, and was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Tamas has been the head coach of the University of Illinois women's volleyball team since 2012. He has led the team to three Big Ten titles and two NCAA Final Four appearances. Tamas is married to former professional volleyball player, Jennifer Tamas. They have two children.
