Stephen Ray Vaughan is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer best known as the guitarist and leader of the blues rock band Double Trouble. Although his mainstream career spanned only seven years, he is considered one of the most iconic and influential musicians in the history of blues music, and one of the greatest guitarists. All Time. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Vaughan began playing guitar at the age of seven, first being inspired by his brother Jimmie Vaughan. In 1972, he dropped out of high school and moved to Austin, where he began to gain followers after playing at local clubs. Vaughan formed the group Double Trouble in 1978 and formed it as part of the Austin music scene, which quickly became one of the most popular groups in Texas.
He is best known as the leader and co-founder of the Texas blues band Double Trouble, as well as for his solo work.
