Fiona Apple McAfee-Maggart is an American singer and songwriter. Apple is eleven-time and three Grammy nominees with five albums both in the top 15 of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, spanning 1997 to 2020. Actor Brandon Maggart's youngest daughter, Apple, was born in New York but raised between New York and her father's hometown of Los Angeles. Having received classical piano training as a child, she began to compose her own songs at the age of 8. Her debut album, Tidal, which included songs written at the age of 17, was released in 1996 and received a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the single "Criminal". Next up is When the Pawn ..., produced by Jon Brion, also very popular commercially and critically and certified Platinum. For their third album, Extraceptions Machine, Apple teamed up with Brion again and began recording the album in 2002.
